The Gifts Of Switzeland – Part 1

Hi guys, i would like to share with you one of my trip adventure from last October, it was an 8 days road trip that included 6 destinations in switzerland and 1 in italy. This is the second year my mom and I planned a road trip and it’s been exciting ,adventurous, unique and most of all a memory for life.

Since i was a little girl i heard that switzerland is the most beautiful country in the world, so visit there finally, with my mother, was a dream come true for both of us.

The Gifts Of Switzeland – Part 1

I’ve decided to make two articles for you to read so this page won’t be too long for you guys and i can describe the places we’ve been in more details.

So let the story begin…

The Gifts Of Switzeland – Part 1

Arrival

As we’d landed at the Geneva airport, the car rental company let us choose the BMW 218d (from the BMW 2 series) to serve us on this journey. Our first “must” destination was lausanne – the 5ths largest city in Switzerland and one hour drive from Geneva, the reason why this place was a must see for us is because of my mother, she visited this place 40 years ago, and never forgot this special wonderful city.

To be honest, the first day was a bit confusing particularly here, I ordered a hotel room in advance but at the arrival we canceled the order after seeing the location, it was next to the city train station, and way too noisy for us. we quickly changed location and ordered a different room in an hotel that was located right on the boardwalk of the ouchy lake, hotel aulac, a 3 stars hotel that  i must give special attention to their restaurant, they made the best fish soup I have ever eaten, and also the biggest mussels pot i ever saw…

“Such great memories from this wonderful place.”

This old historical city have such a positive vibe, by day, people running with their dogs among the lake boardwalk, nannies playing with kids around the olympic park and “parc du denantou” next to it, small bakeries serve you healthy fine breakfast.

And by night, walking around the old city streets seeing the petit stores and beer bars. everything you’ll do here will make you feel the pastoral environment, its the perfect combination between city and nature, fine restaurants and lake view will make you forget everything else and absorb the natural vibes in the air.

LAKE COMO

Arrival

The Gifts Of Switzeland – Part 1

at the beginning we planed a 2 hours drive to interlaken, but unlucky us, the weather was too foggy and it was a shame to miss the clear visibility of the alpine landscape. we quickly changed our plan and instead we went to our farther destination of this trip- lake como, italy.

The new location was: grand hotel imperiale resort and spa in moltrasio, a small town across the southwest of the lake.

The 5 hours drive was absolutely stunning, we went through mountains, rivers lakes and fields, but as we reached our destination the weather became more foggy and the sun was down.

“Such great memories from this wonderful place.”

Lake como is the third largest lake in Italy, one of the deepest among europe and definitely one of the prettiest! It’s the royalty and celebs favorite location, and many of them had or have villas across the lake shores, a good example will be George clooney’s Villa Oleandra in laglio, his summer home.

After we settled in the hotel we went on a ferry (with our car!) to Bellagio, a small town that located on a half island in the center of the lake, it’s a calm town and the main attraction was walking among the boardwalk watching the lake view, shop in the petit tourists shops and have a fine fish in one of restaurants around .

Next day was a morning relaxation at the hotel wonderful spa, included steam and dry sauna, warm pool with streams, a room with water beds and salts and an outside fool for the warmer days.

Little shopping break

The Gifts Of Switzeland – Part 1

From the great lake como we driven about 45 minuets to “fox town” Switzerland big outlet mall- if you like to mix your trip with a little shopping spree this is a must stop on the way!

From the luxury brands such as Valentino, YSL, D&G, Gucci and many more, to sports brands like nike and puma and even a Lindt chocolate store! It’s very close to the Swiss city Lugano, and the direction are very easy especially with apps like waze that’ll direct you straight to the parking of the mall.

Lugano

20 minutes drive from fox town you can easily find yourself at “piazza della riforma” the center of Lugano city that located in the northern side to lugano lake.

The city center and boardwalk are parallel to each other so you can easily take a small walk and then enter to one of the stores or restaurant around you, everywhere you’ll look there’s a blue and green colors, the view of the lake between the mountains is outstanding, and if you’ll stand high enough you can see the bridge roar crossing the lake.

The Gifts Of Switzeland – Part 1

This night we slept at hotel serpiano. located on mount st. Giorgio and overlooking lugano lake, southern to lugano city. St. Giorgio is a Unesco world heritage since 2003, rising just under 1100 meters in high, the serpiano hotel is right on top of it all, after a 30 minutes drive on a little steep country road.

You’ll get to your heaven destination, this place is perfect for those who enjoy nature, country side wineries, walks around the woods and just loosing sense of time, in the evening you can sit on the balcony of your room and listen to the wind while watching the lake change colors from orange to dark pink until the sunset inside the mountains and darkness falls over peacefully. if you’ll get bored (I didn’t) there is also an inside pool and spa for perfect relaxation.

Ok guys this is the end of part 1.
